Coffee Common: Great coffee as a force for peace... →
coffeecommon:
So, as I was working the bar at TED this week, a customer said- with tongue in cheek- “what war-torn country is this coffee from?” I was quiet before responding (a rarity for me), but I realized that his smartaleck remark had a point- we had been serving coffee from Rwanda, Burundi, Bolivia, and…

whos-scruffy-looking asked: yes while i am aware of this (i googled it), they were definitely NOT talking about skating. it was a rather disturbing conversation about what makes a "real" man.

I Work For The Internet →
staff:
We work for the Internet. And we’re guessing many of you do too. Whether it’s researching, selling, coding, supporting, designing — so many of our careers depend on the Internet.
One argument that’s been made to Congress is that the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is needed to protect American jobs. In truth, the new liabilities this bill would impose on startups could stop American...

I’ve been reading a bunch on goal setting. Short term, long term and in between. This week is goal setting week for me. And when I fail, I’ll try and hold my head high embrace what I haven’t met yet.

This is a wonderful example of how loud it is when you spin fire. I find it really exciting and amazing to spin fire for people, mostly because they don’t realize how hot and loud fire really is. It really is a beautiful thing.

This is my around town bike. I figured I’d take some time to show you guys how to commute the right way.
*Re-purposed Italian steel racing frame for, you know, street cred.
*No big ring in the front to ensure you can’t go fast, even if you wanted to (townie bikes are for cruising only!)

My good friend Derek has some beautiful bikes… you should see the...
French-Style Pot-Roasted Pork Loin
I got an issue of Cooks Illustrated a few months ago which featured a French style Pork Loin Pot Roast, since then I’ve been dying to cook one. For Crystal’s birthday I decided to take the plunge on my cooking skills and my wallet and venture out and make it. I paired it with vegetable medley consisting of: roasted beets, watermelon radishes, broccoli and a squash; garlic mashed...

Coava Review
While in Portland this last week, I stopped in and picked up a bag of the David Mancia Honduras that Coava had in stock. I finally am home after a nice 9.5hr drive from Ashland yesterday and I’ve been dying to brew a pot of this up.
I started with 40g of coffee to 575ml of water, which is pretty close to what Coava recommends(25g/ 400ml) I like to brew a little more than a single cup,...

I’ve been sick for the past week and it’s been bumming me out. Today is the first day I’ve actually felt like I’ve gotten somewhat better. I’m now 10 pounds lighter thanks to my lovely last week and haven’t ridden a bicycle since then. Ugh.
On another note, I’m working on cover letters and resume’s which is always a struggle. I feel like I can...

Everybody should be stoked for Handsome. They are putting out some great coffees and are using a philosophy that I can get behind. They pick the coffee they want you to drink. Why? Because, honestly they know what’s best, what’s in season and what is tasting great. The way it should be.

Being a mega bike geek, I figured I’d geek out and share my gear. Here’s a look at what I’ll be racing on this fall and winter.
Ibis is the co-title sponsor of my team, so naturally I’m riding aboard the incredible Hakkalugi cross frames with Enve cross forks. These bikes are awesome!…
Ketchup Time
If you follow me on twitter or facebook, you’ve probably noticed the abundance of posts related to making ketchup and how excited I am to make it. This is the second time I’m attempting to make it, it’s a fairly long process and if you don’t watch your sauceapn(which I’m not doing now) then it can scorch and be ruined. The first time I made it, it came out too runny,...
